An invite for fellow Porsche owners from the Rennlist 993 forum...
Save the date! Get out your calendars, blackberries, appointment books, daytimers, etc. to mark down that the last MD/DC/N.Va "Meet and Drive" for 2009 will occur at 10am, Nov 8th, Sunday at the Rockville, MD. Starbucks - Mid-Pike Plaza, 11802 Rockville Pike Rockville, MD. (Rain date will be Sunday, Nov 29th, Thanksgiving weekend)
This is your last chance to meet fellow Porsche owners, break that garage queen out of the garage, see some really cool cars, check out each other's mods, and catch up with old friends and make some new ones.
So... we'll meet around 10am, hang out till around 11:15-11:20am, take a spirited drive in the country that would be diferent than last time:burnout:, and then have lunch at Hard Times Cafe in Rockville around 12:30pm. You could show up for the "Meet", do the "Meet and Drive", or do the "Meet, Drive AND Lunch". Please let me know if you're doing the lunch so I can tell the restaurant about how many are coming. People really liked the food and prices here last time so we're doing it again (you can eat for under $10 easily for those on a budget).

Is this invite open to all cars? I have an 09 CTS-V.
Well, it is a Porsche event but feel free to show up! Do you also have an E38 and are on bimmerboard? I'm guessing so. It would be great to meet you if you're the gent I think you are.

Y
Yes, one and the same. I went domestic with the CTS-V and the modded beast is so far putting down 538 rwhp. I still drive the E38 (DINAN 7) as a daily driver now.
I hope you show up in your E38 then. Cadillacs are cool (a good friend has the new CTS as her husband is the GM at Capitol Cadillac) but the E38 is my heart car, for obvious reasons!
I should be able to make it. Can we make the drive on paved roads this time? Last time out I had to have bottomed out or scraped 7 or 8 times at least. That one lane road with gravel on both sides of the lane did a number on my car. I thought we were at a rally event and was just waiting for the dirt roads and jumps to show up on our route.

We will take a MUCH gentler road course this time! Sorry to hear you bottomed out. That sucks. Have any suggestions for a great 50 minute drive leaving Rockville Starbucks and returning to Hard Times Cafe in Rockville? I'm gathering suggestions.
Not a big deal. It was scraping rather than bottoming out. Lets head up towards Frederick and work our way back down. Lots of cool roads heading up that way. I'm up for any track as long as it's paved.
