Monster 750 vs. Street Triple 675

Any comments on the difference in ride characteristics, reliability and general sense of value between these two bikes? What are other similar models I ought to consider?

Matt

Aprilia also has a naked streetbike... Shiver 750
I can't comment on either's ride etc... but if looks were all that mattered I'd go with the Triumph.

looks are subjective so leaving that out.
the monster 750 i can't comment on but if you compare the 696 monster 2009 to the new shiver and the current street triple it would stack up something like this:

- monster motor = fail by comparison to the shiver and the street triple (which has the most balls i believe)

- the shiver is the best allrounder and a LOT of bang for your buck. u get 3 modes which u can change on the fly. if its ur first bike, set it in rain mode till u learn (cuts power down to 45hp) then as u get used to the bike u can work urself into the full 90hp mode. also a pro is that not everyone has one so u'll be unique.

- street triple is the most powerful and most "fun". styling is er...interesting but i love it in that regard, it looks mean. Not sure what else to say about this one.

the monster has a real solid feel to it, they corner well, good brakes, and a comfortable riding position. not as fast as the triple, but plenty of torque, less costs with this bike

the triple is fast, actually has quite a bit of low end torque too, feels very sporty, but not quite as solid a feel, there are a bit more costs involved.

my verdict: if you want speed go with the triple, if you dont mind the added attention and a slower bike, go with the ducati

ventracing will become famous soon enough
Not a fan of the street triple...Maybe because I love the swingarm setup on the Speed Triple so much. I would go for the Ducati. This comes from an S4r owner as well.
