Something to do before the Superbowl on February 1st

There was a tremendous turnout in January-just over 540 vehicles; almost setting a new record, despite the weather.
Thanks to all who braved the conditions.

By now, many of you have heard about the "incident" at the January event and subsequent concerns that have been voiced.
The following is a quote from the January Blackhawk Museum newsletter:

“Our 'Cars & Coffee' event has become an important part of the collector car enthusiast community in the San Francisco Bay Area, and is supported each month by hundreds participants, with all types of cars and owners of all ages. We appreciate all who support these monthly events, and also the awareness it has provided the Museum with many new visitors coming each month. Following the incidences after the January event with the careless and potentially dangerous manner in which a number of cars left the event, and the subsequent Facebook and various automotive websites posting about these actions and their potential consequences, the out pouring of support from the many participants of our Cars & Coffee event to continue was very much appreciated. We will be continuing our Blackhawk Cars & Coffee event in the spirit with which it was started, and will be instituting guidelines for our February 1st 'First Sunday Cars & Coffee' event to ensure we have a safe event for all participating, those attending, and also for our neighbors. We look forward to seeing you all on one of the First Sundays during 2015.”

Just be cool arriving, participating and leaving the event: and again thanks!

Reminder for Sunday, March First!

Thanks to everyone for the tremendous support and turnout at the February event! Official count was 782 vehicles...there were cars everywhere!

Despite the numbers, the event was orderly and everyone appreciated the efforts involved in keeping the event alive.

The San Ramon Valley Fire Department sent a very long hook-and-ladder truck through the parking lot; many thanks to those who observed the red curb markings which allowed the truck to pass unimpeded. I'm sure there would have been words said if it was unable to get through the event!

Again, just a few photos of the many special vehicles.

Sunday May 3rd

According to the Museum Newsletter, there will be some media visitors to the event:

"A special visitor coming to our 3rd May Blackhawk 'Cars & Coffee' event will be Wayne Carini, host of the Chasing Classic Cars TV show on the Velocity Channel. Wayne and his video team will be attending, along with famed award winning coach builder Steve Moal, to tape a feature about our Cars and Coffee event and the cars in the Blackhawk Automotive Museum for a future episode"

Thanks to all who came out last month, despite the threat of rain...

Conflicting Event 8AM-10AM

PLEASE NOTE: On Sunday May 3rd the Annual Danville Devil Mountain 5k/10k Run will be going on. The Danville Police Dept has advised that there will be extended road closures of Sycamore Valley Road at the East side of the 680 Fwy.
If you normally come or leave that way it is suggested you use the Diablo Road or Crow Canyon Road routes if coming off the 680 so you don't get involved in extended traffic stops for the runners.

Reminder for Sunday June 7th

With the media presence last month, we stopped counting cars when we reached 860 vehicles .

Those of you who stayed, I hope you saw the McLaren and Porsche "hybrid" vehicles that showed up...a P1 and a 918 Spyder.

Hopefully, June will revert to a more manageable volume.

However, thanks to everyone who came out for a memorable event!

At the June event, the Bay Area Horseless Carriage Club will have 13 of their members' cars participating, 11 of which will be one century old vehicles. From a 1903 Ford, to a 1915 Studebaker, with marques such as Buick, Locomobile, Paterson, REO and Saxon included. These 'brass-era cars' will make the drive along Sycamore Valley Road for a group arrival into the Blackhawk Plaza.

On the other end of the spectrum, there will also be a significant presence of Aston Martins, as AM North America will have three 2015 models on display.
Between AMOC, AMNA and 6speedonline forum members, there should be over 20 different Astons on display.
A 1964 DB5 (Goldfinger) has reserved a spot-it's definitely worth seeing!

Holiday weekend event - Sunday the 5th

It appears that the "heat wave" has passed and temperatures will be reasonable...the F1 race should be over by 7AM our time, so no excuses!

If you attended last month, you should have noted the increased "enforcement" presence...it's expected again this month.

And please observe the "red curbs" denoting fire lanes, as the fire department routinely shows up and "motors" though the plaza. Thanks.

Might be "damp" on Sunday morning the 6th?

It's likely to be "chilly" as well...any brave souls out there?
