There is a cheap arrive and drive at PIR through SCCA April 14th(ish) I'm going to try and get to. In meantime will be running ThunderHill with CFRA April 3rd- let me know if anyone wants to join!

Awesome M, good test and tune day at PIR then.

Thanks again for the setup/prep Jeremy, you and Kyle did a great job and your shop is too convenient for me!
Yes the April 14 at PIR should be good event so close. Not expecting any records broken, but closer than Laguna Seca which is also in the cards that weekend.

Flipped that 996tt, bought a GT350R- flipped that, and. Ow back into a Porsche (2010TT, PCCB, CL, Carbon, loaded). Headed into Matrix next week for BBI Rollbar and other track prep then down to ThunderHill April 9th.

What did you pay for your 350R if you don't mind me asking? Was it local? Feel free to PM if you prefer. I've got a 996TT and thinking of making the switch over so would love to pick your brain.

I found mine at MSRP but had to go out of state (TX) to get that deal. Locally they were asking for a +20k on GT350 and no allocations for the R.
It's one of those cars that you need in your stable, but quite loud/obnoxious for spirited driving. I even had the cops called on me for racing when I wasn't even in the car that day!
A "standard" GT350 is more than enough to test the waters and with a few mods is every bit as nasty as the R. I actually modded my R similarly to a non (added rear seats, wheels/tires) to run kids to school from time to time.
Missed the Porsche so just "traded" back into a newer turbo. Suggest trying to drive a GT350 if you can... actually the 2018 GT5.0 will be an excellent car as well.
If you want a huge performance/dollar car look at the Camaro ZL1 1LE. Chevy has these UNDER MSRP and they are beasts on track out of the box.
Keep us posted what you get- or how you modify the 996tt, I had two and love them still.

Thanks Mark. My friend has a 2003 that's modded (tune, exhaust, sticky tires, suspension) and it kind of ruined my stock X50 for me. I'm not sure I want to dump 12k or whatever into a car I won't get back so that's why I'm looking around. Getting a test drive without a hard credit inquiry and paperwork ready to be signed has been a lot tougher than I'd like with the entitled Ford dealers. Not even proof of funds would suffice at one, and the car was USED! I've thought about a ZL1 1LE but hear the ride is horrendous and for some reason it just doesn't have the same allure that the Mustang does (Voodoo V8?). They both give me pause with how heavy they are but want to experience it and go from there. As fast as the 1LE is it seems like if one goes the GM route you might as well get a Corvette if you don't need back seats, right? My girlfriend needs her Chevy serviced so maybe I'll find a friendly dealer to tempt me.

Jumping in to this old thread to say hello. I've been in PDX now for 7 years, I have my ties to the Bay Area as well and still try to make it down there each year.
I'm in the market for a '19 GTS with manual transmission or GT3 Touring but struggling since there a so few of them out there. Just wanted to say hello, and if you happen to have any leads please pass them my way!
