as a guy who has owned a couple p-cars, and a couple nsx's...they are very different, and neither is "better".....just different.

I am a Honda Blue guy and know the NSX like it was the back of my palm! LOL. Look! The Integra Type R with 200HP out ran Corvette C5, E55 AMG and CLK43 AMG!

+1 I have a Supercharged NSX and other owners feel its what the NSX should have come with. A stock NSX is a fast car in its own world. Handling alone makes up for allot. Its true light weight rims, exshust, coilovers and you have a rocket of a car with the NSX for allot less $$$$. I have a rear Eng, 911 and on the track its a hand full but fun I get to drive others Porsches all the time 996TT C4s A CGT 930 each is just differant, and a good driver can make any car handle better by changing your lines and braking. I would love a GT3 as well but I will not sell my NSX to get one. Both great cars.

Interesting comparos. Reading and watching the NSX-R run its pace makes it seem like such an under-appreciated car. The GT-3 seems to be the only other car that would give such an exhilarating experience, but with the engine in the rear it's kind of a turn-off. Maybe that's part of the Porsche experience; don't know. I've been behind the wheel of one, but never around turns unfortunately. I would however love to hear track stories of both cars, particularly the NSX. Can anyone here who's had been behind both cars chime in?

Considering the fastest Time Attack NSX can't come close to the pace of IMSA GT3 Cup cars, I'd say you're very wrong. 1:31 vs. 1:28 at Laguna Seca. Even Speed GT on non-slicks became quicker than that.

Modding an older car vs. a stock new car, it's usually best to go with a new car. Especially a proven, globally raced car like the 911. Not to mention the factory and aftermarket support behind it.

The NSX will also need a brake upgrade. It would be Frankenstein's monster trying to get it to run as quick as a GT3. And the tuning headaches...

A well driven stock 996 GT3 on DOT rubber will turn sub 1:40s at Laguna. The NSX won't even be close.

It was a great car, the Porsche is just way beyond it.

A stock NSX has nothing to be desired because it's a 20yo car. A stock Gt3 is far superior.

Honda left the NSX out to die in favor of uglier cars. Honda has even pulled completely out of F1 racing. Without factory support, Honda has already committed to killing the NSX.

But if the question was which is more fun to drive, then the answer is very subjective.A licensed SCCA driver will do sub 1:30 at Laguna in a spec Miata. So lap times will varies on driver's skill level.

Spec Miata, which I believe are at 200hp, race prepped on slicks, run in the low 1:40s at Laguna. No Miata ever turned a sub 1:30 at Laguna.

S2000s were demoted to T3 but promoted in Autocross. Now imagine what you could do if you swapped with those that are giving you the point-bye?

If you'd like to compare a Shop built T/A car to a Factory built race car, then you're right. If you'd like to compare Factory built vs. Factory built....look to a JGTC NSX...

Fundamentally better setup car: Lighter, lower, mid engine, weight dist, lower Cd, etc....granted it's way down on power and brakes...but the question wasn't about a stock NSX.

I'm not an NSX "fanboy" at all, just answering the question asked. If you'd like to argue that a 911 is a fundamentally better setup car, by all means. I really don't care either way, I think they are both great cars, albeit the NSX is underrated as a drivers car.
