Thumbs up

Awesome build!! Nice choice on the SR20DET as opposed to building the Straight 6.
Sounds like its going to be a blast to tool around in.
Looking forward to seeing it completed.

Okey doke. Here's where we are right now. We're routing the custom exhaust, trying to get it as nice and tight as possible. Once we have this done, it's all off to thermal coating. Everything will be V-banded too. Regular clamps are a peeve of mine.

Looking forward to seeing this rolling around Knoxville soon.

It's about time that more Zs got back on the road. Maybe we can get together for a ride once she's done.

It's actually an SR20DET out of a 2003 Sylvia Turbo. The SR20DET is a 4cyl single turbo engine. I almost did the RB26DETT (inline 2.6L with two turbos) but realized that it didn't make sense. Sure, it's cooler, as it's the Skyline GTR engine. But it weighs much more and puts more weight on the front wheels. The SR20DET can be made to easily put out 600HP... 400HP with minimal lag. The RB26DETT is nearly unlimited on what you can get out of it. But the 240Z only weighs 2000-2100lbs and has hardly no weight over the rear wheels. I saw no situation where I'd want more power than a well-built SR20DET could give me. So I built the 4cyl turbo, very well, to have 400rwhp and minimal lag.I think that the weight savings will be worth it for sure on this car, and expect that it will be more fun to drive than with the RB, although I think those engines are amazing.

So, I had my SR20DET built by National Speed... Engine goal: Reponse, with a fun top end, for a responsive 380-400whp around town, and capable of 500whp at the top of the efficiency range.

Keeping balance in mind, we maintained the perfectly square 86mm bore x 86mm stroke, Eagle rods, Mahle 9:1CR pistons, Brian Crower 264/264 cams, Brian Crower valvetrain, ARP fastners top to bottom, GReddy intake manifold/stock throttle body with AEM EMS.

The turbo is a Garrett GT3071 single scroll.

It's so funny that you (Broker404) wrote that to Jason (SWChopper), all on my 240Z thread! You both then have PMS over the black car. So funny.

Just.... come.... drive.... it!
