200+ MPH RX-7 Build

Hello everyone. So I have had this itch to build a 200+ MPH car for the standing mile and decided to go for it on my 3rd gen RX-7. It is my first RX-7 so this should be fun. The finish on the car Matte White. Under the hood is a 13b Rotary with a bride ported and a single turbo set up running about 375 to 425 RWH. Don't really know exact power since I just put the motor in and have not tuned it yet. We will tune and have dyno numbers in a week or two. Here it is.

425whp gets you over 200mph? what about gearing? Is it that tall?

What turbo is on it? I've had two and they were both a blast to drive.

No but I want to see how fast it can go with the current set up. I bought the car with a blown motor and all this came with the car.

We are going to switch transmission and rear end to be able to get the 200+. I know of 1 RX that did it with 548whp and the proper gear set up.

It is running A 60-1 Turbo for now. I am thinking of upgrading to a GT4088 turbo kit. Good up to 700+ WHP

i love massive single turbo projects. this makes me want to buy an fd, or a supra or something.

If my goal was 200mph, I would ditch the 13b, and throw in a ported 3-rotor 20B and go big single turbo.

He can make enough power on the 13b but i would go bigger than the 4088 on the turbo. I know why he is looking that route. The Journal bearing 4088's can be had for around $850. The 60-1 is a little small for more than 450 rwhp on a bridgeported set up. Its a good turbo for auto-x and small road courses. If you have any questions I have had quite a bit of fun in these cars. I currently am running a T67 on mine. Good luck.

what about the new Billet 67? I hear they are making great numbers with that turbo.

I have done maxon mile with my LS1 RX7. With the T56 in my car and 4.10 gears you run out of room for the mile marker. When the car made 422 RWHP I was only rated for the 135 class. I was able to run it up to 160 by the 1/2 mile and bring it back down before the MPH trap at the end with no trouble. Now the car makes 485RWHP and I know for sure it will do 178 in 5th at 7K with 3.90 gears. I really think that 200 MPH in the standing mile is a little out of reach with that HP and any gear really. But thats just what I think.

The 2J swap was going to be a pain. So I bought the RX-7

I did 149 in my Evo today running 350WHP. The clutch on the RX-7 went as we were tuning it.

Maybe next time. The way it is I think it's got a good 160 and your right after today I realize it's going to take some more power to get the 200+ run
