Besides I didn't want a couch on wheels I wanted a decent sports sedan for a DD.

Actually its the opposite REAL WORLD drivers in production cars are doing mid 12 second 1/4 miles....STOCK.

Even your test data shows a 0-60 at 5.3 seconds...faster than the G35's 5.5 seconds. But the bottom line is DRIVE IT. Why let some guy tell you which car to buy based on ONE article....

Oh and the Edmonds article was a PRE PRODUCTION vehicle....not a street version. Funny how Road and track got their STREET CAR test car to 60 in 4.9 seconds...and they said how it felt so much faster and handled better than the G35. Said it was even faster than the V8 S4!

Real world drag times in the G35, well to get under 13 seconds you need Nitrous or a Supercharger....Otherwise you are high 13s.....

Real world data....

G35 is on the right....and that one had exhaust and sport cats....

According to Road and Track....in a head to head test, the couch on wheels is better in just about EVERY way than a G35 sport....even handling and slalom which the IS350 goes through FASTER....lol...buy what you want...just dont think you are gonna blast by an IS350 in a G35S....you will be sadly mistaken.

"The new Infiniti G35 Sport was the odds-on favorite coming into the test. It’s the newest of the bunch, it possesses the strongest engine (tied with the Lexus), and it has distinct sports-car roots, sharing its drivetrain and platform with the Nissan 350Z. However, it brought up the rear here, being soundly pummeled by the Lexus and losing out to the less-powerful Acura."

" The major complaint is the steering, which is a bit numb and heavy. "

Sounds like the G35 is the couch in this bunch.....

"The base price of the IS 350 is rather reasonable at $35,705, but our test car came equipped with the sport suspension and navigation packages that brought the grand total to $43,980. But even with the highest price tag in the group, the Lexus IS 350 had no problem winning this contest. It’s that good of a car."

ztnedman1 is an unknown quantity at this point
From personal experience(valet) the IS350 is WAYYYY above the G35. Both are nice, but the lexus felt amazing. Interior looked great and the steering was very good, paddle shifters molded right to the fingers and responded really well. G35 is not bad at all, I think it feels a little sportier where the IS feels more luxurious on the inside. I would choose the new Cadillac CTS over both of them though, ive been in some really nice cars but the new CTS really impressed me for what it is and the market it competes in. Interior looked and felt great IMO. Its no mercedes or BMW but it gives the same feel to me. Drive feel and response was excellent as well. That or pick up a used STS-V (thats what i would DO! haha loved that car when i drove it).

I get the confusion now. Dubai based G35s have a factory rated 327 bhp. So thats probably why its faster. Also as far as skidpad numbers go every reviewer (except R&T) also states that the steering feels numb compared to the G35 or the 3er.

Isn't a 95 Maxima & a Panamera a bit of a spread?

Lol well actually I jumped from a 95 Maxima to a brand new Cayenne TT to a 911 Turbo, I gave the Cayenne TT to my dad about 9 months ago and swapped back to the 95 Maxima. Some clients where getting a bit curious to how my business was so doing so well I always told them 'its my dads' lol. This year I have a few things going on so when the Panamera comes around I'll just say its my other businesses that are doing well not the one I work with you in
