Trying to get through firewall for RD wires?
New member here. Just purchased a "new to me" '12 PTT. Gave up my '13 M5 so we'll see how this car switch turns out. I will post pictures in a few days.....
Now down to business, I install my own BelStir+ and LI setups but am having an issue trying to find a port within the firewall? Does anyone know of a good location to run the wires from the engine area into the passenger space?
Did countless searches but have yet to find the answer. Figured you guys with a Belstir+ or some sort of setup may at least know the location ?...
Thanks in advance for any input, and looking forward to contributing here.

Thank you! I can do that! From the interior, where would I look for the entry point? Just trying to get my bearings. I like to understand the whole install before I take it on. Also curious, do you know where they typically hide the brains of the RD?
Again, thanks for this valuable info.

Sure. Let me tinker with it and will confirm but right now I'm thinking tapping #38 - front lighter/luggage socket. I'll update soon.
I always fuse tap. It's just cleaner and can be restored.

Ended up finding a grommet on the upper right side of firewall. So using this side of car, I went with the fuse box on this side. Used fuse (fusetapped) #27 which is one of the lighter/power supply units at 20A. Since I dont smoke or use those plugs, I used 5 and 5 Amps for the tap (not to exceed 10 A according to the tap directions). The detector unit stays on for around 10 to 15 minutes after vehicle is turned off and then powers down, just like most electronics in the car. Works fine.

The GPS has such a long chord I decided to place it in the bumper and run it's wire with the transmitter wire, it is exposed to the outside but seems like it's weatherproof. We shall see. I get a connection within seconds most times. I can take a picture and post it tomorrow.
