What are owners paying for the 2 year service?

I've just made arrangements to have the 2 year service on my `11 P4S and was quoted $845 (less a $50 service coupon). My car has just over 17K on the odometer. Apparently, this service includes the oil change, fluid check and top-off, vehicle inspection, and pollen filter. So, it appears I'm looking at around $800, which seems a tad excessive.

I'm up for full maintenance this week (I drive more than anyone I know because of work). Champion Porsche in South Florida is the closest to me and that maintenance is around $1,400 (yikes). I tried getting an estimate from a Porsche specialist mechanic at a shop called Vertex Auto and they wanted to charge me around $300 extra!! WTF. SO far the dealer is the cheapest at the moment.

I paid $428 on mine less a 10% discount. Took an hour for the oil change and pollen filter.

Good information. Thanks! It's not that I can't afford the $800, but I'm feeling like there's a surcharge because it's a Porsche. I'm going to ask them to knock-off at least another $100. WTH.

I was told to expect about 2300 for full maintenance at 40K (P4S) and I already was comfortable with that...but maybe I should call some other dealers having seen your post - especially considering they might not need to bleed the brakes as I had that done a couple of months ago ....

Update...I telephoned the dealership in Virginia where I purchased my P4S and they quoted me $550 to do this work. So, I have an appointment to drop the car off with them on Monday. FYI, the dealer that quoted me $845 is about 8 miles from my house.

It should be way less than that. I did that maintenance and didn't spend that much. Now, I'm at around 80,000 miles on mine which is where it starts to get expensive. Oddly enough it drives better and better every single day.

Woohoo. Looking forward to uncorking that aged bottle...I am at 45K. Was told I need my servicing at 50K. Been happy so far with the one on the rockville pike. However have a few options like the one in Silver Spring or maybe Va like leslierc is suggesting. Wondering if there is a web page for reading the service ratings for the dealers in the neighborhood.

We bought our 996 there and have had great service through the years with them, though it has gone down hill as they moved locations. On the back of that and that our salesman was still there, we bought my cayenne there.

The first time I took the Cayenne in for some items all was good. The next three times have assured that I'll never set foot there again.

I'm supposed to get a loaner with them and I stated I needed one when I made the appointment, but Eric claimed I never asked for one and then said he had none to give me (mind you I was literally the first person there because I got the opening time wrong so had been there an hour before they opened). So I had to leave and reschedule (60 mile round trip).

Then I had an incident where some laundry detergent spilled and got under the back seat. Because Porsche used a triple square bolt that I had not yet encountered I was forced to take it to the dealer so they could remove the seat and have it detailed to clean it up. I was explicit that I didn't want the exterior done and all the detailing was to focus on the mess inside. I get it back and not only did they clean the outside, they burned the clear coat on my 2 month old car, refused to acknowledge it (claimed that's how it was and another detailer must have done it. Car had never been washed), and I later found that they hadn't cleaned the soap from under the seat which was the whole point.

I later found (when I went to try to clean the soap) that they did remove the seats like I asked because they stripped a bolt. When I took it to get replaced, Eric accused me of stripping it and refused to replace it.

I think a big part of the issue is that Eric is the only SA there and he works open to close 6 days a week. But I'm done with them.

As far as the original question, yes there is a ridiculous markup on some of these services. Being in the DC area I have 5 dealers in a 30 mile radius. I called around for the 5k (just and oil change) on my Cayenne. Rockville was the cheapest at $375 and Alexandria smokes the most amount of crack wanting $675!!!

I did my first OCI myself for less than $100 including getting a few new tools. The second one I had a VW dealer do for $110 plus I brought the oil filter.

I also did my fuel filter drain (diesel) my self at 10k that was exceedingly simple and Tysons wanted $300 for (on top of the $425 for the OCI!).

Thanks Gnat. I am sorry for how you were treated. Maybe I should consider other options and not have Rockville as the only game in town. If I do go to them I will certainly log any adverse or positive feedback..

Yeah it was a shame since we have had such a long and good relationship, but with my salesman retiring shortly after the Cayenne was delivered and the poor service we just have no connection with them anymore.

Tysons (was HBL) is actually my closest dealer, but I've refused to go to them for as long as we've had the 996 (01) as there have been some horror stories from friends that have taken their car there and their sales guys were slimy as sin. But with the falling out with Rockville I've been to Tysons a couple of times now and been pretty happy so far. They've also moved their location a few times, but it's seemed to improve things compared to Rockville. Even though I didn't buy from them they still gave me a free loaner (and a Benz rather than a POS Enterprise rental) when I walked in in the middle of the day with no appointment. They can also schedule appointments in the next couple of days where Rockville was always a week or more out.

I'm not sure I'm ready to hang my hat on Tysons, but they have certainly replaced Rockville for me at this point.
