Question Which is a better deal

Hi All,

I am new to the forum and also new to possibly buying a Porsche. I currently have a BMW and my lease will be expiring in December. A friend shwoed me his Porsche and I was pretty impressed. I do require a 4-5 seater sedan and Panamera seems like the right car for me. I have been looking around for possible options and found three different cars with different mileage but similar price.

Need expert opinion from folks on this thread on which seems like a better deal. Are the prices comparable to what you would expect. Also any gotchas I should be aware of. Thanks in Advance.

Option 1: 2013 Panamera Platinum Edition $59,950 (15K Miles)

Welcome to the 6 and great choice on a Panamera - I LOVE mine.

My advice is check with KBB and Edmunds to check current values of the cars you're looking at. This will help you gauge what you should be paying.

I would also recommend you drive the base and S models to see which you version you prefer. Good luck in you purchase! Use common sense and you'll be all set.

Interesting that you managed to find 3 cars with such similar prices.

As with any Porsche, you really need to look at the build sheets to get a full idea of the relative value of these cars. Options can vary enormously.

Dealer sites are terrible for this, particularly non-Porsche sites. For example, car #3 is listed as "Carmine Red." It's not, it's Ruby Red Metallic. Ruby Red's a $700 option, Carmine Red's a $3000 option. I happen to like Ruby Red better personally, but the point is that dealerships get even basic stuff wrong all the time. I've seen manual transmission 911's listed as PDK.

Here's what Porsche's site says about the VIN's:

#1: $84,010 sticker
625 keyless entry
728 Park Assist front and rear, rear camera
Y8 Mahogany Metallic
UB Standard interior in Beige
970810 Platinum edition package:
Sport steering wheel
Premium Package
Heated Rear Seats
Bose
Partial leather interior
Cosmetic stuff

#2: $115,965 sticker
350 Adaptive air suspension + PASM
541 Seat ventilation
576 four zone climate control
625 keyless entry
821 Walnut interior
842 heated wheel
Z4 Basalt Black Metallic
AC Leather interior in black
P61 Bose
P68 Premium Package Plus includes:
keyless entry
PDLS
LCA
front+rear sensors, rear camera
P80 14 way seats (included in P68)
XRY 20" Panamera Sport wheels

#3: $89,885 sticker.
345 Heated Steering Wheel
417 20" Spyder wheels
457 Lane Change Assist
475 PASM
541 Seat ventilation
603 PDLS
636 Park Assist Front and Rear
861 Power sunblinds
A6 Ruby Red Metallic
AB Standard interior in black
P61 Bose
P63 Premium package
P80 14 way seats (part of P63)

Even allowing for the increase in mileage, and even if you're not that into the extra 100 HP compared to the base Panamera, car #2 is a much better deal than the others. Leather, air suspension, and the premium plus package leap out at me.

I'd want to check the Carfax, of course.

From the ones you listed, #2 is really the only Choice

Plenty of options of 2013 Panameras for under $60k, Autotrader has 40+ 2013 Pan-S and 4S with less than 45000 miles

Here a few good ones:

Living in Washington, you should consider a 4wheel drive, make your live much easier.

Fully agree that you should test drive base vs. S. If you don't need the S, your choices expand.
Quick search just now found a 2015 Panamera4 with only 2500 miles, i.e. practical new with plenty of warranty in the same price range.

I enjoy the search, it is almost as much fun as having the car....

@cebromark: I meant i need atleast 4 seater and ideally 5 seater. Panamera is cool enough for me to be happy with 4 seater

@jefetica: Thank you for the additional tips. I do agree searching is as much fun as having the car....just a bit overwhelming for new buyers to try to get a hang of all the options....

since last week all i have been doing is reading posts on this forum and that has helped for sure....

Seems to good to be true.....i want to see and drive the car before buying and this one is in Chicago.....the deal does seem good enough for me to consider flying there to check it out though.....would need a reliable porsche certified mechanic to verify if all looks good though....
