it does not matter if it is on the image itself or the border or in the post...the policy has been relaxed to allow a non-commercial user name tagg in open forum but other than that they have to go in this section...hopefully when Mark reorganizes this section there will be a place for the tagged images separate from the general/technical photography sections

guess what...those "above us" (above me too) own this forum and establish the rules that you agree to in tems of use...the rule was already relaxed to allow user name taggs if the user name is not a commercial name...
Thanks for allowing that. I never truely understood why it wasn't allowed in the first place (I don't need you to explain and beat a dead horse) but I'm glad that exception was allowed.

Here it is from IB Tim...any images with a website url or that end in .com, .net, .org etc...will be taken down...also any images that advertise a non-sponsor or competing forum will be taken down....I mentioned that some of the photogs that post here have their website as their watermark and don't want to have a separate watermark for just this forum and they would no longer post here if that was the policy and the response was, "that is your choice"...I hate to see some of you go as I enjoy viewing your images as much as the next guy, but it is what it is...I don't set policy...as far as all the photographers go....you can mark your photos with Your Name and Your Name Photography but if you mark them Your Name Photography.com (.net, .org) or add a website url to your watermark they won't fly. I see no reason why watermarked images that are acceptable cannot be posted anywhere on the forum and I will be changing the rules for the other sections to reflect that...sorry that some of your suggestions were not implemented but at least basic watermarked images are no longer confined to the photography section...I very much appreciated all the comments
Thanks for taking the time to consider our suggestions/comments. This is exactly what I'd hoped for! To be able to use my name in my pictures works perfectly for my needs. I have no need to add .net, .com, etc at this time.
Thanks again, Chuck! Now I can really start posting pictures again.
Jason, I know the results are not going to make everyone happy but I'm glad that it has worked for you and some others...I am also relieved that I don't have to shove all the watermarked images into the photography section anymore...have fun sharing and we will enjoy viewing..that is the whole idea
this is the new watermark rule that will be posted in each section...
Only sponsors can post tagged or watermarked images that have website links or url's that contain .com, .org or .net. Any member that posts images with those taggs will have them removed. Also blogs or social networking sites are not allowed. Members may post tagged/watermarked images in any section if the watermark/tagg is your user name, your personal name or "your name" photography. Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated..thanks
I understand your policy, your rules, your site. Glad I read this policy. The pics I was going to post had my photo blog site watermarked. I'm just going to post them somewhere else rather then re-editing the pics just to post them here.
bummer. I should have read this first obviously i'm not going to make an alternate version of my photos just to post here though. it would be nice if this rule could be reconsidered

Just post a link to the image vs embedding it. That still follows the rules.

depends on the link...if the link is to a photo hosting site you are probably ok but if it is to a commercial website you are still out of bounds...it would be nice if members wouldn't take advantage and try to advertise a non-sponsor or another forum with photos..then this policy wouldn't be necessary

What would be defined as a "commercial website"?
