You can get one with 560hp, 580hp or 650 hp. Not only 580hp...

I can assure you, the Z06 most certainly does not die after 125 mph. The shift into 4th at 121 mph often throws you back in the seat. Acceleration drops off, a little, after shifting into the somewhat longish 5th gear at 156 mph.

My CTR-2 has 580 HP Ruf style and is lighter than an RT-12. I wonder how it would do before heat soak sets in?

Here's a clue, altough not the 580 hp version.

http://www.einszweidrei.de/porsche/rufctr21997-1.htm

520 hp / 1.422 kg

<TABLE cellPadding=5 border=1><TBODY><TR><TD>0 - 200 km/h </TD><TD align=right>11,6 s</TD></TR><TR><TD>400 m, stehender Start </TD><TD align=right>11,6 s</TD></TR><TR><TD>1 km, stehender Start </TD><TD align=right>20,8 s</TD></TR><TR><TD>Vmax </TD><TD align=right>330 km/h</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Very similar to the CTR in fact:

Now that I have 650 miles on mine, I will tell you that from 125-150 the Z06 is still screaming. I have not ventured above 150.............yet.

Those Ruf Rt12 #'s are staggering. Yes, I'll take one of those too, please.

Erik,

Thanks for the data.

The reason one might think that these are the slowest numbers is because there is inconsistency in the data provided by the magazines.

0-300kph tested here in 27+ seconds was based on the RT12 with taller gearing (Top speed of 360kph+). The Autobild test was based on the shorter 6th. gearing (Top Speed of 330+KPH), hence achieving the 0-300kph in 24.9 seconds.

Autobild did not get a datalogged speed of 363kph during that same test ("if" we are reading the same test), they posted the manufacturer claim of 360Kph, which is based on the taller gearing.

I have seen this inconsistency in other places. The 25s 0-300kph are based on a 0.79 (330kph) gearing, whereas, unless I am wrong, the 27+ seconds are based on the cars that have the taller, 360+kph gearing.

In summary:
Top speed of about 330+KPH => 0-300kph in 24.9s.
Top Speed of about 360+ Kph => 0-300Kph in 27+s.

The fastest Porsche recorded is still the 4WD heavyweight Gemballa GTR 750..0-300Kph in 21.7seconds.

Thanks for the data, what I meant with my "580hp comment" is that it is very commendable if acceleration like that can be achieved with "only" 580hp

I am wondering what the tuned 997TT's EVO e.o. (610hp~700hp) would do up till 300 (186.4mph)

Thanks for the information. Hard to know without being able to read the magazine or have been there.

that was probably a mistake on the announcers part. That car has always had 650 hp, infact the license plate even says so (MN RT 650)(thats how our license plate scheme works). I could be wrong since I havent been to the factory in a couple months, maybe stefan vidal knows better. But that car has been our press car and it was always 650 hp.
