2003 X-50 SRM Build. 767 whp Pump, 850 E-85

Just wanted to share the exciting results from my recent build with Sean at SRM.

I purchased the car about 4 years ago and have been slowly modding it throughout the years but knew the limits of the rods so never wanted to push it too hard.

I reached out to Sean and told him my budget and what I wanted and he said he could make it happen. I dropped off the car July 8th and picked it up the previous weekend.

Here is what was down.

SRM Rods
12 mm head studs- ARP studs he uses
Factory head gasket
1300 Bosch injectors
SRM complete fuel system. Dual 450 pumps, rails etc.
SRM 4.5" intercoolers
SRM Y Pipe
SRM Plenum
SRM Billet Flywheel, Tilton Cermetallic triple plate
K & N Filters directly on turbos
Cobb tuning by Brandon at I believe Brenspeed

Previous parts that remain on the car

K24/20g Stage 2 Turbos from Mark at 911tuning
Old Speed Technologies exhaust

The car is an absolute blast to drive, tons of power, idles great and the clutch is very easy to use with nice pedal pressure.

I can't say enough about how happy I am with how everything worked out!!

Thank you SRM!!!!

Congrats on your build. Just a few questions.

Did I read it right that it took about 5 months to do the build? This is the drop in rods with no machine work right?

What are the SRM rods and Tilton Clutch rated for in Torque?

Did you have it put on a dyno? Always fun to see graphs even though PBOX and Track times really tell the story.

I bet it is great fun to drive!

767 on pump ! 93 octane i'm assuming ?

That must be a hell of an experience rowing through the gears. What wheel and tire set up do you have to put down all that power ? Is it RWD ?

Carrillo rods. Tilton triple disk handles over 1000 ft lbs. 12mm studs require maching of the cases for new threads and machine work to precisally drill 12mm holes in the heads and cylinder housings. bridgeport mill or cnc machine required

Great numbers!

I'm really tempted to drop my car off for the full SRM treatment with pretty much the same parts, but I'd really miss the car if it was gone for half a year! Makes a winter build more appealing for sure.

How much boost on pump and E85?

What kind of dyno? Can you share the graphs?

Enjoy the car! I'm sure it's a blast.

s65e90 is infamous around these parts
Nice #'s. I originally read that as a one week turn around, but almost 6 months!!!, No way I would be okay with that.

91 octane was 24 lbs of boost.

27 lbs on e-85.

the original eta was 6 weeks but I added some parts and we had issues with the tuning with Cobb which was outside of SRMs control.

To me It was worth the wait knowing I took it to the right shop where it would get built right

Nope. AWD. Very little traction issues. It's a rocketship

Heres what doesnt make sense.

The link shows another guy runs 25psi of boost on 91 octane and makes 725rwhp not awhp.

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...2471-cobb.html

But the OP runs less boost on 91 octane and makes 767awhp?????

The dyno chart is showing 120hp loss after 5500rpm timing is being pulled.

You seem to fixate on max wheel hp figures. OP (OP's tuner really) is making max HP in the mid range on pump. Other tuners will intentionally tune for less midrange and more top end power.

Looking at the curve, if the goal is a fast/fun street car, I bet the OP is happy.
