Wheel spacer question - 2002 C2

I have the 18" Carrera lightweights, and am wondering how far I can space the rear wheels out. Rears are 18x10 w/ 285/30 tires.
I know I can go 15mm in front, but not sure what the safe distance is in the rear. Using a straight-edge and ruler, I have about 3/8" gap from the outside tire face to the inside edge of the fender.
I will be dropping the car about 1" very soon w/ new suspension, and I decided to stick with my current 18's and not upgrade to 19" rims.

You can go 15mm in the rear too...

There is a guy on the board who has 15 all aroung with that tire size and claims that that is the safest max distance...

Now that would be cool. Yeah IIRC I think I saw that thread too but could not find it.

15mm translates to 0.59" - Seems like it may in fact work but hopefully someone who has done this with my particular wheels can chime in before I buy the parts.

EDIT: I was reading a forum post over at renntech from someone with a 2002 C2 w/ 18x8 and 18x10 Sport Design wheels.
He's running 18mm rear and 15mm front spacers, X74 kit, no rubbing.
Tires are same as mine, 285/30 rear and 225/40 front.

Will this setup work with my 18x10 and 18x8 lightweight wheels? Any diff in offset between mine and the Sport Designs?

I am lowered and have 15mm in back and no rubbing...As for your wheels, I cant say unless they are factory offset
