Continued Instruction/Coaching...

Thought I would pose this questions to the group: how many of you seek out on-track instruction/coaching?

Now, I'm not just talking about the beginner instruction, or the first-time-at-a-track instruction ... I'm talking about real coaching. The kind where you might feel like you've plateaued, and need someone to pull out of you something you may not know how to access in order to move on to the next level.

If you don't, why? Maybe you do, but find either it's too expensive, or simply not offered anywhere?

I tried to arrange a coaching day/weekend this past season but was unable to A. find a weekend that the coach wasn't testing or racing B. find a club running at Road Atlanta AND would allow the coach on a weekend when he was available, and C. justify the expense of personally renting a track for the coaching.

Feffman is an unknown quantity at this point
I hired a Grand-Am Cup driver/instructor several years ago at Road Atlanta and it was money well spent. Since I'm not competitively racing, but instead doing track days, it's hard to justify doing so again.

I had the opportunity to ride with Andy Pilgrim in a Cadillac CTS-V at Summit Point in September and it reminded me that I should NOT give up my day job. If I were racing wheel-to-wheel, I'd hire a private instructor post haste.

Most PCA instructors are either very good or do club racing themselves. They are selfless and will give you instruction for nothing or just lunch. They get paid by your smile and gratitude. I've had many.
