Thinking about early model 996 for track use...

Anything I need to look out for? Any common problems with the 2000-2002 model year 996's? Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Todd

Steer away from the 99-01 years. They have the 3.4L engine that is prone to failure along with the leaking oil seperators and rear main seals. The 02+ offer the nice updates plus the 3.6L motor. My father had a 01 with zero issues (only 9K miles) and my 02 is splendid. I don't suppose you want mine for the track? :-)

Thanks for the advice! Good luck with your C4 cab! If I only had a budget for a 2nd toy car...

Stay away from the 3.4? I just bought a '99. No seal leaks yet!

Won't everything leak "eventually"? It is 10 years old now.

I have a 99 that I have driven K miles in two years. I track the car twice a month and have had no leaks. Plus it's a tip to boot. No new engine due to missed shifts.
