Chip in the Crystal - Damnit! What do I do?

HEy all,

I'm so angry at myself...I guess i'm not used to wearing a watch...and a watch that weighs half my body weight at that ...

I just noticed a small tiny little spec on the crystal right where it magnifies the date and I tried to wipe it off with the cloth, but it seems it is a tiny tiny little chip - i guess a dead giveaway is the luminescence that you see when you shine a light on it..

Anyways...what can I do to fix this? I had a friend say something about a crystal filler? that fills it in?

Or will I have to replace the entire crystal? and if I have to do that, is it expensive??

BTW...if you dont already know, this is on my 1 week old PAM220..

I'm kicking myself right now..argh..so angry!!!

You sure its not on the inside...On my Panerai 240 I had the same exact problem..Looked like a scratch but was just an imperfection on the date cyclops when it is attached.
If you have the same problem that I had..It is totally normal and was also present on at least 5 other Panerais that I have seen.

Its not an imperfection or a scratch... it appears to be like one though. Its light through the magnifier that makes it look like that. If you look at it from different angles, you will see that the spot moves as well.

LOL..

Actually..now that I take a closer look at it..and touch it...I cant feel anything at all..its still smooth as silk even just above that area that looks like a chip...it does kinda look like its on the inside..

Do any of you guys have a picture of what that imperfection looks like on your watches? I have tried to take pictures of it...but my camera skills are brutal as you may have noticed from my pictures before.

Same here with my 88 as well. I was just about to call Gil when I realized it's just the way the light was reflecting throught the date window.

Mines looked like a spec too. Was mad annoying and I couldn't live with it. Watch was sold within a couple months.
You have to either live with it or get a Panerai 233 with a date window but no cyclops =)

Heres a picture that shows a shadow too the reflection.

and heres the reason to my sanity...I HATE THE DATE CYCLOPS WITH A PASSION because of the speck =(

ahh

So AspenWhiteSTI - did yours look like a bluish spec? almost like some glitter from some girls makeup? lol..

It bothers me because i think its a chip...but if its not a chip and its normal, then it doesnt bother me as much because I can only see in certain light. If I can confirm it is infact light reflection and not a chip, i'm just fine wtih it lol

It really depends on the light, if it is focused like a lightbulb or the sun over your head then you can just see it, other than that it is really no big deal. I certainly would not sell my Pam 88 because of that.

Mines was actually a lil more like a white spec...Like a tiny scratch on the inside of the cyclops.
Seriously hope its just a illusion. Have a nice night friend.

its light reflection in the date magnifier because panerai put it under the crystal...I noticed it when I was taking delivery of mine at the ad and he showed me it was the light
