It's a nice entry level watch, but it's an overpriced ETA. For that price range, you have huge selection to choose from. 35% is like the common discount you should find these days.

I've heard people say that with Tag you are paying for the marketing, not the actual movement... Is that what you mean?
And the 35% - would that be off the supposed $3,900 MSRP or the $2,975 offered on Amazon (that they claim is a discount from the $3,900)?

With many of the well known watch companies (e.g. Rolex, Breitling, Tag Heuer), a good portion of gross revenues go to marketing. If movement alone is your primary concern, there are always lesser known alternatives.
The discounts people talk about are always off the MSRP price. However, before buying from Amazon or a grey market dealer, try your AD first. You may be surprised
The discount is real. You can probably do better elsewhere. I would buy something else in that price range.
Rolex Submariners can be had for 4-4.5K in great condition. That would be my choice.
IWC Spitfire chrono's can be had for about 3K. Breiting Navitimers are in those prices too. Get what you like best, just please shop around.

Thanks for the heads-up!
I personally don't like most Rolex watches... But IWC and Breitling make some beautiful watches.
Another favourite of mine:
Longines Master Collection

People always bag on Tag for "advertising" but I see Rolex and Breitling being advertised a lot more than Tag in all the mags I read.
I think the bashing is more towards the prices they charge for standard movements they use in their watches...nothing special about them...for the most part...
If anything, they are very successful at their marketing for being able to sell these watches with standard movements in them for such a high $$ value.
Its kinda like Bose...yeah Bose speakers sound good...in some cases, sound pretty good...but you can VERY EASILY find similar quality set-ups for 1/3rd the price...Bose is also guilty of being extremely successful at marketing their products, thus being able to charge a crazy premium for "sub-par" speakers (Sub-par when comparing to other speakers in the same price range) - just my own analogy lol
