Yeah I am not seeing any SAR's on ebay except for the $1000 one. The Marathon website says the SAR is for government personnel only, so maybe that is why they are hard to find.
Doing some reading and it looks like westcoastime and countycomm are good places to deal with, but both of their sites say they only ship to the US... emailed both with some hope that they will bend that rule!

Glad you liked the SAR idea. Which one did you get? They all seem to be just a little bit different depending on what contract they were made for. You will also find that for such an inexpensive watch, they hold their value fairly well.
I wear mine on one of those nylon NATO style straps. It came with a rubber strap, which I put away and never wore.
^Right now the current models available are the Quartz, Automatic, and Jumbo.
They had a chronograph but I think that was limited production.
Yup.
There's the SAR (automatic, superluminova lume), TSAR (quartz, tritium lume), GSAR (automatic, tritium lume), and JSAR (quartz, superluminova lume, and 46mm...but I've seen lots of people who converted theirs to automatic).
Like ekam said, there was also a limited CSAR (chronograph, automatic, tritium lume), but those tend to run 3x+ the price of the others.
I've had a GSAR...great watches, but they sit very high off the wrist and, combined with the very average 41mm diameter, didn't do much for me.
I will second the suggestions for the Sinn U1. I've had mine for close to three years and there's not a single scratch on it and I wear it every day. The tegimented bezel is nearly unmarkable - I've hit it on metal edges, doors, desks, etc and it has yet to show any wear. I've had many other watches in the past few years, but this is the only one I've held on to.
Not my photo, but you get the idea. Pictures really don't do this watch justice. Another nice thing is that these keep their value fairly well if you buy used. I bought mine used (3 yrs. ago) and I could sell it for the same price today if I so desired. There's not a whole lot of them around (only one place to buy from in the US), and enthusiasts seem to really like this watch so when you do find one for sale, it goes quickly.
The Sinn is a nice watch for sure! I just didn't want to spend that kind of money on a TRUE beater. That's why I got the Marathon. I don't remember exactly what I spent on it (it was about 3 years ago now) but I am guessing I got it new for about $500.
Casio G-Shock Atomic Solar... Sets itself with Atomic sync and charges the battery with Solar energy... you can run it over with a car and it will keep ticking..
