Rolex's are pretty sturdy. Cartier's scratch really easy so stay away from them if you need something strong.
Seiko makes an automatic dive watch that is awesome. I used one for 9 years in the Marines through a ton of s**t, and it never had one problem. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00068TJ76
Casio makes a watch called the Pathfinder. It has every feature you could ever want or need and can take a beating. It is what I wear now and have in Iraq and one of the -stan's. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001W0YEZY/...SIN=B001W0YEZY
Both are able to be had for under $300.

Sinn u1. In over a year of ownership, not a single scratch. That submariner steel can take a beating. Rubber strap is extremely sold. Clasp is too, but is not made from the same material as the watch itself so it is the only part prone to scratches (very minor, but nevertheless). Easy fix, a second clasp costs about 60$.

If you want a simple "tool" watch, check out Marathon SAR watches. They are built for different military or quasi-military groups on contract. Any left overs get sold to the public.
I bought one made under contract for the Canadian Search and Rescue Teams (TSAR) _ the equivalent of our Coast Gaurd's rescue swimmers. I have worn the watch for 2 years, treated it like a hammer, and it still looks fantastic! Cost about $500 new and well worth the $$$.

EXACTLY what I had in mind. Where did you manage to get a hold of one? Ebay? Any store you would reccomend?
wow, interested in the Marathon watches. They seem like your typical Marathon watches. People on this board have mentioned that they are hard to find. I've found a handful on Ebay just by doing a quick "Marathon watch" search. Are they not the same?
There were a few going for 50-300 dollars, while one is going for 1k.
Difference between these models?...or are they from different brands?
