I'm looking at picking up a new watch for Christmas and am only looking to spend around $700 or less. I already have http://www.swissarmy.com/Timepieces/...roduct=241171& this one and am looking for something maybe a little more dressier or different and preferably automatic but I doubt I can get anything nice and automatic for only $700. I am open to all suggestions but I am pretty hard on my watches because I'm only 18 so something durable is pretty important too.
Thanks

Check out Hamilton, Seiko Kinetic, Citizen Eco-Drive, and Lum-Tec. All make automatics under 7 bills. Good luck.

No worries. All of the watches I mentioned are reputable, nice watches. Just because a watch is under $700 doesn't make it a bad watch to own. I have had a Seiko Automatic dive watch since I was 7 or 8. I wore it for 8+ years as a Marine, through a ton of sh*t, and it still keeps great time. Good luck bro.

For anything less than $1K, nothing beats a Seiko Monster. Perhaps an Omega quartz Seamaster? When I turned 18, I bought myself a second hand Rolex Datejust (all SS, jubilee bracelet, black dial, stick markers) which I sold about 8 years later for a nice markup. What I am saying is that if you can save up a bit more and get something that will hold its value better, perhaps you would be better off with a nicer piece? That said, NOTHING wrong with pieces that are worth less than that. Sinn U1 for a bit more money is a good bet too, but price into consideration (not dressy!), Seiko Monster wins hands down (on SS bracelet).
Thanks GOB. I actually really like the look of the blacked out M automatic but they are all sold out. Anyone know where to get one or should I try and reserve one for 2010?

If looking for a dressier piece on a strap, also consider checking out Thomas Gref watches. He makes some nice looking and nicely priced pieces. He's a master maker based in Arizona. Been thinking about picking up one of his watches for quite some time.
