PHX: Speed Cameras

I just got a ticket in the mail for doing 77 in a 65 on the 1-10 in PHX on 12/14/08. My tags are out of state and I just read that they only issue tickets if your doing 11 mph over the speed limit so I am a little frustrated because I was doing only 1 mph over that. Do I have any options to fight this thing? Any loopholes since I'm out of state? Thanks.

Also, the defendant listed is not myself...it is my father who the vehicle is registered under. Does this matter? They have a picture of the driver which is obviously me...there's an option to send in a drivers license if you are not the driver of the car. Is this a technicality that I could use?

well you just admitted your guilt in a public forum...that can't help your case...there are some great lawyers that have helped members on here so I'm sure you will get a more helpful response than mine...good luck

Don't pay it. If they can't serve you with the ticket in 90 days, its dropped.

A couple of years ago I got caught running a red light on camera here in SoCal. The ticket had an Arizona return address on it. I ignored it and nothing ever came of it. No trace on my record. Good luck to you.

Had a similar situation happen to me several years ago in Scotsdale. The wife and I were visiting (from CA) friends and we had rented a car from the airport to get around town. I got nailed by one of the cameras going 55 in a 40 zone. As the rental car was under my wife's name she got the "present" in the mail, she wrote back to the court and stated it was not her driving in the picture and that it was indeed me. So I graciously volunteered my CDL # and sent it in. Couple of weeks later she gets a letter of dismissal and I to this day have not seen a response or anything show up on my record.

Good luck

I remember those cameras. I was close good thing my buddy told me ahead of time. I'd hate to go all the way back to AZ to pay for that.
