The Porsche 911 Carrera S won last year’s Motor Trend Best Driver’s Car competition. This year, its all-wheel drive brother the Carrera 4S is having a crack at winning the trophy for the Carrera brand two years in a row. Will it get the job done, or will the added grip of Porsche Traction Management subtract from the overall driving experience? Racing driver Randy Pobst was delighted by the Porsche’s lack of front-end push, so maybe there is a chance for PTM. Roughly 34 percent of Carreras sold are all-wheel drive, so this victory would mean a lot to foul-weather 911 fans.

It’s a tough field this year. The victor will win by less than a hair.
