2014 C7 Corvette Gets the Chris Harris Stamp of Approval

Chris Harris has made a name for himself making some of the most entertaining car reviews inhabitants of this planet have ever seen. Besides being very good at going sideways, Harris is also a fantastic car critic.

How do you determine a good car critic? When a new car comes out and you ask yourself, “I wonder what ‘so-and-so’ would think of this?” Whatever name you use in place of “so-and-so” is the name of a good car critic. Chris Harris is one of those “so-and-sos”. In fact, I consider him the apotheosis of automotive journalists on the Internet. Even before the Corvette Stingray was unveiled, I wondered what Harris would think of it.

Why was I so curious about Harris’ first drive in the new Corvette? Car journalists in North America are a bit easier to please, and their lack of ‘Vette criticism made me feel like there was missing information on one of my all-time favorite cars. Honestly, besides remarks about the C7’s awkward backside, can you remember one really negative thing a North American journalist has said about the C7? I bet you can’t. Granted, the new Corvette is awesome, but until now, it hasn’t been given a proper international review.

Specifically regarding the Porsche-versus-Corvette rivalry, no car reviewer has been able to clearly communicate why a Corvette isn’t as good as a 911, but now Chris Harris has. Ironically, the audio equipment recording his voice is somewhat unclear.

“JoesC5“, a member at our sister site Corvette Forum, succinctly summed up Harris’ review this way: “He likes the C7. He loves the 911.”
