Amid the current diesel crisis hitting Volkswagen, Porsche, one of the company’s holdings, found time to announce that the concept car it showed off just a few short months before the scandal, the Mission E, would be put into production. According to Stuttgart, the Mission E will be a Tesla Model S fighter, and be the first, fully electric Porsche ever.

Porsche has stated that the new Mission E project will see more than 1,000 jobs created by the end of the decade, and that the company will be investing around a billion dollars in its main factory in Germany to prepare for the Mission E to be produced.

The concept was said to feature a batter pack that would put out over 600 horsepower, and be able to go well beyond 300 miles per charge. However, the most interesting claim was that the new Porsche would be able to be recharged to 80-percent in just 15 minutes. The Mission E is also said to be able to be recharged wirelessly through induction mats on the garage floor.

Porsche’s Chairman of the Supervisory Board stated, “With Mission E, we are making a clear statement about the future of the brand. Even in a greatly changing motoring world, Porsche will maintain its front-row position with this fascinating sports car.”

What do you all think about the Mission E besides being absolutely gorgeous. Is Porsche going in the right direction?
