6Speeder Sets 1/4 Mile World Record in Porsche 991

By -

Yet another record falls to the speed demons at ESMotor as their Porsche 991 Turbo runs an 8.99 @ 160 mph.

It’s no secret that we here at 6SpeedOnline have a bit of a fascination with speed. For most folks, incredible cars like the Porsche 991 Turbo are plenty fast enough as is. But for us, they’re only a starting point. For something much, much faster. And in the case of forum member Emre@Esmotor, that means fast enough to reset the record books.

ESMotor, based out of Istanbul, Turkey, is no stranger to fast Porsches. In fact, they’ve already built the quickest and fastest Porsche in the world (8.18 seconds @ 185mph) and the world’s quickest and fastest Tiptronic Porsche (8.81 seconds @ 164 mph). So it would only make sense that they would team up with another notable record breaker, EKanoo Racing, to do it one more time.

“I’m very happy to announce that we are the 1st tuner to break the 8 second 1/4 mile barrier with our partner Ekanoo Racing’s 991TTS PDK. Just to mention, the car is a full weight street car with a full interior including the stock heated/vented seats. There is NO weight reduction on it.

We managed to run 8.99 @ 160.74 mph with a bog down before the 60ft mark. Weather was 34 degrees Celsius (95 F). It has our full built 4.2L engine program with the latest updates, our turbo kit, a complete fuel system with Syvecs standalone ECU, and a Dodson Motorsport clutch kit.”

Judging by the video, the record-breaking Porsche 991 has a few tenths left in it, too. That pass went down with virtually no drama. And as the OP notes, in less than ideal conditions.

“I believe it has more room to improve as it bogged down to 2,800 rpm on the launch. The weather was too hot as well. This car was previously yellow (when it had a stock engine in it). Then it was painted blue. When it was yellow, it ran a best 1/4 mile of 9.51 with a VTG setup. And 9.39 with a Garrett turbo in about 70 degree weather. That’s with the stock engine, stock transmission, stock clutch, stock fuel system, and stock ECU.”

Impressive results, indeed. But we’re guessing that the folks at ESMotor and EKanoo are nowhere near done (or satisfied) yet. And if you want to see what records they annihilate next, the best way to do so is by following them here in the forums!
