Aston Martin Vantage GT8 is More Special Than the Rest

By -

Come along for a ride to a meetup with several rare Aston Martin Vantage GT8s at Aston Martin’s original factory in England.

The Aston Martin Vantage GT8 is a rare breed. Of all of the V8 Vantages created during the third-generation of the venerated name, only 150 were branded as GT8s. The GT8 was built to take its owner from the street to the track and back. Its 4.7-liter V8, from the base Vantage, is bumped up in power, to 440 horses and 361 lb-ft of torque. And, of course, all of that is ferried to the back wheels through a six-speed manual, or seven-speed automated manual transmission.

And for one YouTuber, the GT8 is a rare sight to see these days. Shmee150 answers his viewers’ questions as to why his GT8 hasn’t been on his channel as of late. He does this by announcing they would not only see a lot of his blue-and-orange GT8, but over 20 others at a GT8 gathering at Aston Martin Works, Aston Martin’s original home, in Newport Pagnell, England.

Before joining the party in Newport Pagnell, Shmee150 must first meet-up with an ever-growing party of GT8s. This includes one in a Gulf Oil livery, and a green GT8 coming all the way across the English Channel from Germany. As he explains, such a gathering “hasn’t been done before,” and will be “a complete army of the noisiest Aston Martins ever produced.”

And what a gathering it is. 19 of the 60 Vantage GT8s in the United Kingdom, plus the one from Germany and two more being serviced inside the Aston Martin Works’ restoration shop, all totaling $5.24 million in value, all in one place at one time. Shmee150 puts it best in the video’s description as “something that won’t even have happened when they were being built and will probably never happen again.”

As for why he won’t sell his Vantage GT8 in the near future, if ever, it’s all about the camaraderie around the car, and the car itself. He says “the head may say it’s expensive, underpowered, and a little bit silly, but the heart says it’s epic.” We couldn’t agree more.
