Aston Martin’s CC100 Concept is Drop Dead Gorgeous

Speedsters, or coupes without roofs and windshields are inherently completely impractical for everyday life. I mean, unless you’re down to wear a helmet every time you drive to the grocery store. On the flip-side, since they’re free from the bounds of “practicality,” they can be as beautiful as the manufacturer chooses. Since this is Aston Martin, you can bank on the end result being a work of art. This is not an exception.

Astons latest concept is called the CC100 speedster. They debuted it yesterday at the Nurburgring in celebration of Aston Martin’s 100th year of existence. The designers put it together in under sixth months using Aston Martin ’59 race car as inspiration. Looking at them side-by-side, it’s easy to see they share the same genes. But only in the design department.

When it comes to engineering, Aston built the CC100 to be fast. It’s got their 6.0 liter V12, a sequential six-speed gearbox, and a top sped of 180mph. Without a roof. Or windshield. Stirling Moss SLR who?

So yes. It’s fast. It’s beautiful. It’s even the herald of Aston Martin’s new design direction (exciting!) It’s just no for sale. Which is a shame. I feel like Aston making more of these would just be nice thing to do for humanity. They’re adding beauty to the world.
