Audi Drops the R8 Competition
Audi seems to be taking cues lately from its sister company Porsche, at least in terms of offering several different versions of the exact same car, but adding to the price sticker each time for very minor changes.
This week, Audi dropped the curtain on what is the most powerful road going production car the company has ever built, the Audi R8 Competition.
With over 570 horsepower (45 extra from the standard R8 V10), this new Audi R8 smashes its way to 60 in just 3.2 seconds and tops out at 199 mph.
The Audi R8 Competition will be limited to just 60 units and only be offered with the company’s dual clutch transmission, while the exterior gets a fixed wing, new front and rear diffuser, and matte carbon fiber sideblades.
As production comes to a close and the new Audi R8 due out sometime within the next year or so, we may see more and more of these special one off R8s come through.
One particular version that comes to mind is the heavily cladded version we spotted at the ‘Ring sporting a race cage which this does not have. Keep your eyes peeled because this is definitely not the “last” R8.
