Will the RS3 sedan resemble the Clubsport concept?

For those enthusiasts of small, fast cars, it’s a great time to be alive. Volkswagen’s Golf R is a potent, all-wheel drive machine. Ford is bringing their new RS Focus to the United States. We also know BMW has a M2 in the works. But something that has always escaped our shores is the Audi RS3. That is no longer the case.

In an interview with Automotive News, Audi of America CEO Scott Keogh confirmed that the new RS3 will be sold in the United States. It’ll pack a 2.5L, turbocharged 5-cylinder engine making 367 horsepower and 343 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, the car should make the sprint to 60 miles per hour in under 5 seconds (probably closer to the 4 second side).

The potential bad news? It’ll only be available in the United States as a sedan. While that might be a bummer to some, Audi has seen great success in the United States selling the A3 and S3 in sedan form over the previous generation hatchback.

It’s no matter, though, because the S3 is already a great driving car. Besides, we like seeing the return of the 5-cylinder as well!
