Aventador SV Laps ‘Ring in Under 7 Minutes

During a recent Pirelli development test, a Lamborghini Aventador SuperVeloce wrapped in P Zero Corsas set a 6:59.73 lap time at the grueling Nurburgring Nordschleife. The Aventador SV joins a small handful of production cars to dip below the 7-minute mark on the Green Hell, just 2 seconds slower than the Porsche 918 Spyder and 9 seconds faster than a NISMO GT-R.
Lamborghini’s latest SV features a 740 horsepower naturally-aspirated V12 and a 110 pound weight-loss over the “regular” Aventador.
This latest achievement might be an indicator of the future direction of Lamborghini, possibly taking more interest in mainstream racing or seriously challenging other supercar manufacturers for market supremacy.
The V12 Raging Bull has always been a performance flagship for the company, but mostly on paper, with Lamborghini typically defaulting to its V10 models for their motorsports efforts. Could an Aventador GT3 be in the not too distant future? One can only hope.

Only 600 Aventador SuperVeloces will be built, with an asking price of just under $500,000. If you’re looking for something with plenty of “show ‘n go,” you better get your orders in soon.
