Battle of Britain: Jaguar XKR-S vs Aston Martin V12 Vantage S

These two brands probably have more in common than any other two brands of auto manufacturer. There was a time (the 90’s) where Aston Martin and Jaguar shared some of the same DNA thanks to being under the same umbrella at Ford. You might remember the DB7, the last car they built while still being blood relatives.

Time moved on and now Aston Martin and Jaguar are totally different makes built from wildly different hardware… But the family resemblance is still there. You could probably blame that on the pen of designer Ian McCallum and his fondness for the classic sports car shape. Put a silhouette of either car side-by-side and you’d be hard pressed to tell which is which.

That all changes when it’s time to drive, as Motor Trend finds out. Both cars are the top of their lines, but have a very different goal in mind for what constitutes a “good” sports car. See which coupe is their pick below.
