Celebrating their 90th anniversary the famous Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring will release a slick Alfa spyder at the Geneva Auto Show. Back in 2013 the Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera nailed the design by recreating their 1952 Alfa Romeo C52 Disco Volante using the foundation from an Alfa 8C Competizione. They’ve used that same winning formula for another contemporary take on the beautifully smooth C52 now in a convertible variant named the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spyder.

The team at MotorAuthority got the low down on the build up of these Disco Volante Spyders from Touring Superleggera. Only seven models will be assembled. Each Spyder will have its own customizable one-of-a-kind color combination so act now and get your personal shopper on the hotline quick to Italy.

When the concept was introduced in 2013 as a coupe it was accepted well worldwide. The carefully crafted proportions have a similar flavor to the classic Touring C52 coupe. Like the original it offers a tight, fit little package though now it delivers a retro appeal with modern mechanicals.

The wide wedge front end features a flowing body from the sweeping hood to the set-back cabin into the flared rear wide body. Sexy and feminine while strong and fierce. A breathtaking physique. The Spyder offers more racing spirit with a rear seat cowl fairing shaped for aerodynamics behind the passenger compartment.

Built off of the Alfa 8C foundation it is equipped with top shelf performance and power. Using a 4.7L V8 it punches the Disco Volante Spyder up to 62 MPH in around 4.2 seconds with an estimated 443 HP and 353 lb-ft of torque. Cycling through a 6-speed automated manual with paddles, pilots feel at home behind the wheel.

Relax on weekend cruises without having to work a third pedal. Handling is on-key as is power with fully-independent double-wishbone suspension, LSD and track-ready braking systems. Proper tools for a two-person Italian party. Stay tuned for the release at the Geneva Show this week.
