70Y Sportwagen PCA

Timepiece celebrating 70 years of Porsche is exclusive to Porsche Club of America members & will be delivered at Rennsport Reunion VI.

Seventy years ago this year, Porsche’s first car, a 356, was registered to drive on the roads of Germany. Since then, Porsche has built its reputation on the track and on the street as one of the finest high-performance luxury machines in the world. For 2018, Porsche is throwing itself a 70th anniversary bash around the world, making recent appearances at Goodwood and Monterey Car Week, even your local Porsche club gathering.

Speaking of clubs, members of the Porsche Club of America (PCA) are able to purchase an exclusive, limited-edition watch from Porsche Design to show one and all their support for the wunderkind from Stuttgart: the Porsche Design Chronograph 70Y Sportwagen PCA Edition timepiece.

“Porsche is universally important to so many people, which is why Porsche Club of America exists,” says Dr. Jan Becker, CEO of Porsche Design. “We truly value our relationship with PCA. Their continued commitment and passion was our inspiration in specially developing this exclusive timepiece for their members.”

Each one of the 70 Chronograph 70Y Sportwagen PCA watches is powered by Porsche Design’s first-ever proprietary movement, the Porsche Design Werk 01.200. The movement, hidden under the Fuchsfelge winding rotor, has a flyback function, a load path-optimized movement bridge, and is COSC-certified. What makes the Werk 01.200 stand out from other movements is its ability to automate in rapid succession the stop, start, and reset functions of the pusher on the Chronograph 70Y Sportwagen PCA’s stopwatch setting. The result is increased efficiency in timing consecutive events

Surrounding the Werk 01.200 is light titanium case coated in black titanium carbide. The Chronograph 70Y Sportwagen PCA’s carbon fiber face hails back to Porsche Design’s first watch, the Chronograph I, and provides excellent readability and contrast. And to keep it all on your wrist, the Chronograph 70Y Sportwagen PCA boasts a black calf leather strap with blue and red stitching, enhanced with a swath of black Alcantara. The entirety of the watch strap comes from the same stock and yarn used in Porsche’s vehicle interiors.

If you’re a PCA member who hasn’t already ordered the exclusive watch, which debuted in June and is a members-only offering, $9,911 is all you need for a piece of history and timekeeping ingenuity. Those who’ve placed their orders will receive theirs during Porsche’s 70th anniversary celebration at the upcoming Rennsport Reunion VI in Monterey, California, which is happening September 27-30. There’s still time for PCA members to place an order here.
