Clarion Builds Acura NSX Will Make You Stay “Up All Night”

A car with the Clarion touch would typically make itself known with crisp sounds escaping from a top-notch stereo system. But this time, the pleasant ear treats of this Clarion Builds 1991 Acura NSX are coming from the exhaust pipe, not the speakers.

Clarion Builds is a newer division of the automotive sound system manufacturer that is focused on restoring cars that have a combo of performance, timeless design, and connectivity with drivers and fans. The first build from the “firm” was a BMW 2002. Following that car’s success, CB moved on to something a little more sporty: the Acura NSX.

Since its completion, CB’s NSX has been making the media rounds, and a stand-out from the coverage is this beautifully shot video from journalist Andrew Maness. Titled “Up All Night,” the footage is simple but striking. Starting in the streets of downtown Los Angeles, the clip follows the NSX as it navigates out of the city and into the mountains to stretch its gears.

Unlike what you might expect, the car Clarion started with was not a well-kept version of the classic. This thing had more than 200,000 miles on it when it got scooped up, and it wasn’t in the greatest shape. Clarion immediately swapped out the old 3.0-liter V6 for the more powerful 3.2 and upped the power even more to 344 horses with a bolt-on CT Engineering supercharger. The car uses a Comptech ECU, an AEM intake, and a custom AEM exhaust system. Handling is controlled by KW Variant 3 double-adjustable coilover shocks, a StopTech brake kit, Volk ZE40 wheels, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. It all comes together for one of the nicest NSXs we’ve seen, and Maness’ video shows it off wonderfully.
