DeLorean With Ferrari F430 Engine Is Our Kind Of Madness

It turns out the DeLorean DMC-12 is a megaphone for the beating heart of an F430.
With a minimal amount of real estate to work with, rear engine cars aren’t over burdened with loathsome resonators or fiddly mufflers. As such, they typically are overflowing with aural sensations. This is probably the best thing about rear engine cars. Including this F430 powered DMC-12.
Having already built this F430 swapped DeLorean, FuelTechUSA decided to spice it up a little more. And they did so by letting it breathe even more. R Flow exhaust helped design the new pipes. Equal length headers merge into a 4-to-1 cone, and exhaust pulses proceed to a dual Y collector a bit farther back. The tips are nothing more than just some standard circular tips, but that’s all you really need in a setup like this.

When you remember that engines are essentially wind instruments, it becomes easy to see why an engine of this caliber makes noises like this. With a flat plane crank, each exhaust pulse entering the 4-to-1 collector is evenly spaced out. This means there’s no rumble like you’d get from an American or German V8 with unequal pulses. Merge each side one more time with that Y collector, and you get the high revving exotica you’ve always wanted.
It looks a bit bizarre coming from the shape of a DeForean. But there’s no denying this car is crazy cool. And it is not just the engine or exhaust that has received special attention. The whole interior is new, too. A fully custom dash and gauge cluster takes the interior into the modern world. Gone is the original analog needle gauges and in its place is a giant screen to show all the car’s vitals.

And of course, the car is a manual. Watching the in-car video, you can just tell there’s a tingle for the driver as the revs race up to the redline. With F430 power at your disposal and the ultra distinctive looks of a DeLorean at your disposal, this really is one impressive build.
