Personally, I think most concepts today are too boring. They lack the crazy that really made concepts of the past so awesome. Lately though, there have been a few concepts that embraced the crazy to the fullest extent, and that includes this one uncovered by our friends over at Carcrushing. The Ferrari F80.

Designed by Italian designer Adriano Raeli, the F80 is the next revolution of Ferrari Hypercar. And indeed, it is a revolution. Rather than using the traditional V12 engine that has sat in Ferrari hypercars in the past, Raeli envisions that this F80 will use a twin-turbo V8 coupled with an upgraded KERS unit. The TT V8 would make 900 hp, with the KERS adding an additional 300 hp for a combined total of 1200 hp! Yikes.

Raeli figures that low weight will be key to this cars performance. And low does this car go in the weight department, curb weight is pegged at 1760 lbs, or roughly the weight of a small cat. That low weight coupled with the amazing body and performance, in theory, would provide the F80 with a top speed of over 300 mph!

This concept is one of staggering numbers. But again, it’s only a concept. However, with the current batch of hybrid hypercars, and the Venom F5 going after some similar numbers, it wouldn’t be that hard to conceive that this car could become a reality sometime in the near future.

I love the look of this car, but it may be too drastic, too raw for most of Ferrari’s clientele. But honestly, I really want them to build this, this car is the bedroom poster variety, and that’s what supercar manufacturers need to build.
