TOTAL RECALL Ferrari’s Stupidest Recall Order

It seems like there is an endless amount of recalls these days. GM is recalling pretty much every car it’s ever made. Chrysler is having to recall a few million of its vehicles.

Ford went through a long spat of recalls, and even some supercar manufacturers like Koenigsegg and Porsche aren’t able to escape the recall ghost! Most are actually quite important, and can lead to potentially saving lives from defective equipment.

Then there are recalls that are so asinine that you just wonder who the pencil pushing bureaucrat is that he has that much free time on their hands to push through something ridiculous. Such as this cock up of epic proportions.

The NHSTA issued a recall on the Ferrari 458 Italia. Why you might ask? Is it for the self immolation that is normally associated with Ferraris? No, the recall is for a secondary latch for the front trunk.

Yep, you read that right. The National Highway Safety Transportation Administration issued a recall because there wasn’t a pull latch inside the Ferrari’s miniscule front trunk because of the possible “Event an individual is trapped in the trunk and the latch system does not release.”

Essentially, they’ve watched so many Taken’s and Locked up Abroad that they believe that you can physically get a grown adult into the front trunk of a Ferrari 458. I’ve been in a 458, I can barely fit in the passenger cabin. How the heck do you expect to fit someone in the trunk?
