Hoonigans Hit the Road to Drift Other People’s Cars

As Hoonigans discovers, the only thing more fun than thrashing your own ride is thrashing someone else’s!

By now, you’re undoubtedly aware of  The Hoonigans. The “organization” led by racer Ken Block is all about taking various high-powered vehicles and beating them within an inch of their lives in the name of entertainment, which means loads of sideways, tire-shredding burnouts and drifting. Generally, these shenanigans take place right in the Hoonigans home facility, a place known as the Donut Garage. But this video is, well, a little different.

This time, Hoonigans Vinny Anatra and Larry Chen head out to Dream Racing in Las Vegas to have a little real-world fun with instructor and Formula Drift ace Alec Hohnadell. Because the only thing more fun than thrashing your own ride is thrashing someone else’s, right? And since they’re in a “professional” setting for once, they have to look the part too. As Anatra correctly notes, “90% of racing is looking like you’re good at racing.”

But the real question is: which supercar do they prefer? Well, the Ferrari, of course. They note that the traction control is fantastic, which is pretty ironic for a pair of guys famous for taking advantage of zero traction situations. But the race track is a different story than a parking lot. Amateur drivers come to appreciate electronic nannies if/when they save them from imminent destruction!

After a few boring laps in the Ferrari and a Lambo, it’s time for the real fun to commence. The duo hop in a race-prepped BMW M3 and get some drift lessons from a real pro. And of course, the ensuing chaos is pure entertainment. Once they get the hang of making the Bimmer drift, of course. And once Chen finally manages to make it happen, the only thing he can say is “getting sideways is fun!” We couldn’t agree more.
