Listen to the 991.2 Porsche GT3 Sing Its Flat-Six Song

Cleverly placed microphones make watching this video about as close to actually driving a Porsche GT3 as possible.

Porsche purists will often scoff at the many changes the automaker’s flat-six engines have endured over the years. But there’s no denying the vast improvements we’ve seen in performance over that same time span. Sure, we love a good air-cooled flat-six as much as the next guy. But the things that cars like the 991.2 Porsche GT3 are capable of is downright astonishing. And, oh yeah, they sound pretty darn awesome, too.

If you haven’t had the chance to take a ride in the latest and greatest Porsche GT3, this video from Winding Road Magazine offers you the next best thing. That is, a POV cruise in a manual transmission-equipped 991.2 Porsche GT3 fitted with in-ear binaural microphones. That means you can toss on a pair of headphones, crank up the sound, and come as close to actually sitting in the driver’s seat as humanly possible.

And trust us, you’re going to want to do that. The delicious noises that this 911 belts out are bound to give you pleasant tingling sensations in various places. Its 4.0-liters of naturally-aspirated fury produces a nice variety of aural delights that make it easily one of the best sounding engines ever built. And since it’ll rev to 9,000 rpm, it only gets better the harder you push it.

There’s also something inherently pleasant about listening to a manual-equipped Porsche GT3. Maybe even more so since Porsche tried to take that blessing away from us with the last gen car. Luckily, they made things right with the 991.2, and the result couldn’t possibly be better. And it only adds to the incredible listening experience!
