LS1 Swapped 911 Hits Craigslist… For $25,000

911 LSX

See, this is the type of oddity I come to Craigslist for. GM motors in German bodies. That sounds like sacrelige for both parties at first, but the reality is that the LS is a great motor in just about anything. That, and people have been swapping them into Porsche’s for years. Typically though you’ll find them in older cars as they’re cheaper and easier to work on. I’ve yet to see one dropped into a fairly late model 911 until now.

The kicker is that the pushrod design of the LS makes it both lightweight and super compact. In fact, the power to weight ratio is better than it was originally. You’re effectively swapping out on the six cylinder roar of the 911 for a reliable, more powerful, lighter power plant.

There’s only one thing getting in your way: the price. He’s asking for $25,000 for a car with 128,000 miles and that has been modified. Any car like this is a gamble and the performance is probably worth it but… you better be ready to get your hands dirty if anything goes wrong. Sound interesting? Check it out on CL here.
