Porsche 911 GT3 RS Looks Stunning with Rothmans Livery
Outrageous visuals applied to Vivid Racing’s 991-generation GT3 RS were inspired by historic race livery.
With its bright purple accented by gold, white and red stripes, the Rothmans Racing livery is one of the most recognizable when it comes to classic racing looks. Though the tobacco company is no longer in business, it sponsored many Porsches in the ’80s and ’90s. Everything from 956 endurance racers to off-road rally cars like the 911 SC RS wore the Rothman’s livery.
Dan Mermelstein of Vivid Racing in Arizona decided to make his 911 GT3 RS stand out from the crowd with a vinyl wrap inspired by the many Rothman’s race cars. And stand out it does, as shown in the photos he put up on a recent thread on 6 Speed Online. He also put up a video on his Vivid Racing YouTube channel documenting the moment he sees the car with the new look.

“This thing is so dialed in, the details on this are amazing,” he says in the video, obviously very happy with the outcome of the wrap, which was done by 518 Designs. “As a kid I used to draw and trace this on the old school Porsches. I’m actually really really stoked.” He admits that “normally wraps and stickers aren’t my thing, but this is awesome.” We agree, it is pretty awesome.

And, one of the coolest aspects of the new look are the custom designed and fabricated turbofan wheels that were installed on the car. Vivid worked with Brixton Forged wheels. on the custom set of alloys, which are finished in white at the front and black at the back of the car. Originally designed as an aerodynamic wheel to pull air into the brakes, the retro look of them suits the Rothmans livery perfectly.
