Missed out on the 911R? Porsche is giving you a second chance.

There’s hope on the horizon for Porsche aficionados who long for a 493 horsepower, naturally-aspirated 4.0 liter flat six and a widebody without the wing. Earlier this month, the 911 GT3 Touring Package was leaked online, and from what we can tell, it will scratch all of those itches.

The wide-bodied Porsche 911 GT3 is a dramatic, impressive looking machine. Maybe a bit too impressive and ostentatious for some, who would prefer not to draw extra attention with a gigantic rear wing. Furthermore, some customers may be put off by the purposeful cockpit, preferring more luxury in their high-performance 911.

The GT3 Touring Package scuttles the wing, but leaves most of the rest of what makes the GT3 great intact. Officially making its debut at the IAA in Frankfurt, the GT3 Touring will look familiar to anyone who lusted after, but missed out on, the retro-themed 911R.

Eschewing both the GT3’s alcantara and the 911R’s retro-themed interior appointments, the GT3 Touring Package will make do with leather.  It’s still got a bit of a throwback vibe, though. The name is a reference to the Touring Package for the legendary ’72 911 Carrera RS, a slightly more civilized version of the race-ready 911 variant.

Besides the deletion of alcantara and the Clubsport package from the options list, all other GT3 options will be available for the GT3 Touring Package. The body, suspension, and engine are identical to the standard GT3, with the exception of the wing. The retractable spoiler is more reminiscent of the standard Carrera, with a subtle, additional lip.

The GT3 Touring Package is a no-cost option for the 911 GT3. It’ll be interesting to see how many owners actually opt for the fire-breathing, normally-aspirated 4.0 liter and wide body in a more street-friendly trim.
