Porsche 993 GT2 Gets Thrashed Around London and We Love It
If drifting your multi-million dollar 993 GT2 into London traffic isn’t your idea of a good time, we don’t know what is.
Few car companies have quite as much motorsport heritage as Porsche. Few car companies have a vehicle as long-standing and iconic as the 911. In the 1990’s a new racing class called GT2 opened up and what happens when homologation meets the 911? Absolute magic. For those that don’t know, homologation in a production-based racing series is the process where a production version of the racing vehicle must be sold to the public for at least a certain amount of units before being able to participate in that specific racing series. The vehicle must also fit the standards within the guidelines of that specific class, in this case, GT2. Porsche’s homologated version of their race car would be named aptly the 911 GT2.
To say that people liked this specific 911 would be a gross understatement. As of recent years, these special 993’s have sold for outrageously high prices and their value only continues to rise. Two million or so dollars is a lot of money for any classic car and these 57 road-legal race cars will most likely never drop in value. There must be something about riveted wide-body fenders, deep-dish 3-piece wheels, massive aero and air-cooled engines. So when we saw that an owner of one of these GT2’s decided to have a couple hours of fun drifting his multi-million dollar piece of history around London, we had to find out what that was about.

This video comes from automotive YouTube channel and exotic car-spotter TheTFJJ, who was invited by a large collectible Porsche specialist 9ine11 to come check out his GT2. They proceed to then fly full-throttle in a gorgeous GT2 with a modified exhaust around some London back roads and we can’t get enough of it.
A lot of folks will keep these things hidden away from all forms of sunlight or dust in order to maintain its factory condition for the foreseeable future. However, 9ine11 obviously realizes that this car at its core is a race car and if it doesn’t get thrashed around every now and then, you’re really just doing the car’s original intention a disservice. We are glad that people like 9ine11 exist and we hope one day we can do the same thing too with our 993 GT2’s (this might be wishful thinking).
