Like Reese’s famed peanut butter and chocolate mishap, Porsche has mixed its hybrid super-sedan powertrain with its beautiful zaftig wagon.

Porsche is back at it again with a new remix on a recent, newly-launched favorite. When the Panamera Sport Turismo (Porsche-speak for wagon) launched earlier this year, the model lineup included every drivetrain available to sedan buyers save for one, the mega-power Turbo S E-Hybrid. That word jumble is code for a 680 horsepower all-wheel-drive hybrid monster tech wonder. Thanks to their recent announcement, Porsche has finally remedied that, allowing you to get the best of both worlds. With this hybrid hyper-wagon, you can haul all of your friends and all of their stuff on a really quick road trip. Unlike the sedan, the Sport Turismo can be ordered with a three-across rear seat, allowing more family and friends to enjoy the acceleration. An added benefit of a longer roofline is also found in extra rear seat headroom.

This big wagon will haul itself up to sixty miles per hour from a standstill in just 3.4 seconds. Its big four-liter turbocharged V8 producing 550 horsepower up front, aided by a 136 horsepower electric motor, powered through the always exquisite PDK gearbox. The big Porsche uses advanced aerodynamic technology to help it up to a top speed of about 193 miles per hour. That includes an adaptive roof spoiler that changes its angle of attack (up to 26 degrees) to compensate for the turbulence of an open sunroof at speed. That spoiler will usually be set to a drag reducing negative seven degrees but puffs up to a single degree of positive attack at speeds above 105 miles per hour.

What is your take on Porsche’s hybrid performance wagon? Is this the future of performance motoring, or too much technology for your taste? Back when the sedan version launched, we said it might be the best Porsche ever. This makes that statement false.
