Porsche Cayman GT4 RS: Fast Enough to Even Impress ‘U.S. Presidents’

Porsche Cayman GT3 RS Mount Rushmore

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is right at home on the twisty roads of South Dakota.

It’s not every day that you get to watch a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS sing its own praises in the shadow of Mount Rushmore in Keystone, South Dakota. However, you get just that in Porsche’s new “Feel the Road” promo. The culprit is a Racing Yellow 718 Cayman GT4 RS with copious carbon fiber and aero.

Porsche’s aerodynamic grip labors are evident; the bright-yellow Cayman GT4 RS corners flatly, revealing not the slightest indication of body roll. What’s more, the aero is complemented by the GT4 RS’ meager weight. The little mid-engine missile weighs just 3,227 lbs, around 41 lbs shy of the 911 GT3 RS.

GT4 RS kicks things up a notch from the 718 Cayman GTS

Evident from Porsche’s “Feel the Road” promo on the roads of Keystone, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS is a different animal from the lower-trim Cayman models. Most notably, the GT4 RS summons 493 horsepower from its 4.0L flat six-cylinder engine, an impressive 99 horsepower leg up on the GTS.

Further, the RS model offers a quick-shifting seven-speed PDK or a six-speed manual akin to an instigating friend. You’ll want to row your own gears, too. The professional driver in the “Feel the Road” promo demonstrates the value of orchestral downshifts in the RS. You don’t see it, but they must’ve been smiling.

The only thing more impressive than the Porsche Cayman GT4 RS’ corner competency is its song

A Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS will blast to 60 mph in under three seconds and corner at 1.11 g. Still, drivers who want to shrug off the bar room brags of 60 mph sprints will opt for the six-speed manual. The result is a light, eager driver’s car with track day and canyon-carving credentials. Better yet, a brief glimpse of the Racing Yellow GT4 RS in “Feel the Road” will demonstrate the little Porsche’s bombastic song. Check it out in the video below!
