Not to be outdone by the upstart manufacturer that Koenigsegg is, Porsche issued its own recall for its hybrid hypercar the 918. This time it was for five cars total! Mein Got!

The issue resides in the 918 Spyder’s rear axle control arms which “may break, which could cause a loss of control while driving.” The defective part was first noticed when Porsche was conducting a heavy duty durability test, or in other words extreme race conditions with the car back in June.

Porsche has already contacted the owners of the five affected and have issued a stop-sale, much like the 911 GT3 fire issue earlier this year.

Undoubtedly, Porsche will fix everything with the car, and are most likely being extra cautious, especially with all the press around recalls lately. What is interesting is the testing being done on the car where the problem was found. “Heavy duty durability, race condition testing?”

Is Porsche answering all of our prayers and finally saying that the 918 will live partly as a racecar in the near future? I sincerely hope so, in fact I hope all three hybrid hypercars start their own racing series or are allowed to race at LeMans in the Garage 56 category.

Wouldn’t it be great to see them all blasting the Mulsanne straight? A flat plane V8, a howling v12, and a ridiculously turbocharged V8! MAKE IT SO!
