Automotive marketers like to reference racing pedigree, motorsport heritage, and strongly branded buzz phrases to describe their performance oriented offerings.

It’s where you get couplets like race-inspired, performance-driven, or looks-fast (lol) to describe cars that generally never see performance usage outside of rare spirited back roads while stuck behind a slow CUV, or a quick zip to the grocery store.

So here’s a major applause for British car company Radical, for pushing to make their insane line of streetable racecars available in the U.S.

The RXC’s passed required tests for road registration in California’s strict playing field and will be offered with two Ford Ecoboost 3.5L V6 engine variants: Base trim is naturally-aspirated (380HP/320TQ) and one turbo-charged (454HP/500TQ).

0-60 comes in at a blazing 2.6 seconds with 185mph top speed (pretty much expected for a car weighing less than 2,000 lb).

But of course, all of this comes at a price. Base model comes in at $171,280 with possible options that push the RXC well past the $200,000 mark (including $5k for air conditioning and ~$30k for turbo option).

Though I’m not quite sure who their stateside demographic will have the ideal combination of interest and deep enough pockets, I do appreciate what they’ve built. The closest thing we’ll have to a street legal racecar.
