Rebellion racing looked to be a major championship contender in the P1 class for the 2013 ALMS season. All of that changes after the 24 hour of Le Mans, June 22/23.

Rebellion Racing will be returning, but will run a limited schedule for the remainder of the 2013 season. The team hopes to divert their focus to the development of a new car with ORECA dubbed the Rebellion R-One Prototype.

Rebellion is designing the car to be used in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) for the 2014 season.

Bart Hayden, Rebellion Racing team manager, says that the team will, most likely, compete in this season’s ALMS rounds at Road America (August 9-11), Circuit of The Americas (September 19-21) and the Petit Le Mans (October 16-19).

As of yet Rebellion Racing has no plans to compete in next year’s debut of the United SportsCar Racing championship.

Rebellion Racings partial withdrawal will almost undoubtedly see Muscle Milk/Pickett Racing take the overall championship.  The P1 class saw some exciting racing in Monterey between Rebellion and Muscle Milk/Pickett Racing. The top two P1 teams were swapping the lead throughout the four hour race at Laguna Seca in May.
